Alfred B. Simmons, well known citizen of Elba, died March 14, 1953 in a Troy Hospital. He was a member of the Baptist Church and a Mason. Survivors listed: His wife, Mrs. Rosa Ella Adams Simmons; sons: Marvin L. Simmons of Enterprise and Sam Simmons of Elba; daughters: Mrs. Susie Walton, Mrs. George Wright, Mrs. Ula Wise, Mrs. Gladys Parker, and Mrs. Lurline Bedsole; two brothers: Tom and Ezra Simmons of Elba.
A Masonic ceremony was held at the grave with the Masons as pallbearers. Hayes Funeral Home directed the interment in Zoar Cemetery in Elba.
