She was born December 3, 1915 at Douglas, WY, a daughter of the late George Alexander Ashland and Eva Nixon Ashland.
On March 22, 1947 at Winchester, VA, she was married to Ray Morgan Hill, who preceded her in death June 14, 1999.
Surviving are two daughters, Martha L. Altieri of San Juan Capistrano, CA and Char Fortune of Atlanta, Ga.
The daughters are especially grateful to Margaret Swisher, Carolyn Carr, Dr. Anger and Mountain Hospice who provided loving care for their mother in the last year of her life.
Mrs. Hill was a Veteran of World War II having served as a nurse in the United States Navy.
She graduated from Davis and Elkins College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1951.
An expert bridge player and an avid reader, Mrs. Hill was a great supporter of the Randolph County Senior Center and the Randolph County Humane Society.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, August 28, 2014 at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery.
Presentation of the American Flag will be made by members of HW Daniels Post 29 American Legion and interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Randolph County Senior Center, 5th St. and Railroad Ave., Elkins, WV 26241 or the Randolph County Humane Society, PO Box 785, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mrs. Hill.
