SEMI-WEEKLY INTERIOR JOURNAL, STANFORD, KENTUCKY, TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 1889
Mr. George W. Welsh, Sr. of Danville, died at an early hour Sunday morning of pneumonia, aged about 80 years. He was born in this county, his mother being a Lee, of the well known family of that name. He kept store for a number of years at Hustonville and afterwards moved to Danville, where he continued merchandising up to his death, being the senior member of the long established firm of Welsh & Wiseman. He was a man of splendid mind and seemed a born financier. During its existence he was president of the First National Bank, and then vice-president of its successor, the Farmers National, both of which institutions owe much to his sagacity. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a good and useful citizen. Funeral at the 2d Presbyterian church this morning at 10 o'clock.
