On September 20, 1933, Violet was united in marriage to Edward Schiro at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. This marriage was blessed with two daughters, Marlis and Janice. Violet and Edward resided and farmed southeast of Cosmos for six years before moving to a farm southwest of Cosmos, where they farmed for 30 years. In 1969, they moved to a house in Cosmos. Violet and Edward shared 39 years of marriage, until Edward passed away on April 23, 1973.
In addition to being a loving homemaker and mother, Violet was an active partner in the farming operation. She retired from farming in 1969, and later worked at Green Giant in Glencoe, Minnesota. Violet was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos, Minnesota, where she volunteered with the women’s group that served funeral lunches as well as being a member of the quilting group.
Violet enjoyed crocheting, tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and quilting. She was an excellent baker and made the best sugar cookies ever! Violet also worked for the taxidermy. She loved her church and insisted when she moved to Cedar Crest Estates of Cosmos on October 25, 2003, that her room had a view of the church. (She was the third resident to move in.) Violet liked to play cards and go on motor coach day trips with friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
