James R. Legg Sr., 73, of 1112 Bittersweet Road, Lake Ozark, Mo., formerly of Peoria, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, May 21, 1995, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo.

Born Jan. 22, 1922, in Peoria to Chester and Blanche Seeds Legg, he married Helen L. Cooper on Aug. 22, 1949, in Bartonville. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, James Jr. of Roanoke, Rickie Alan of Mountain Home, Ark., and Gregory Vern of Lake Ozark; six grandchildren; one brother, Carl H. of Peoria Heights; and one sister, Ethel Mae School of Peoria. He was preceded in death by one brother.

He worked at Armour's and Co. in Peoria for 21 years, last working as a foreman. He later worked in the testing department at Keystone Steel & Wire Co., retiring in 1983.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
