Joseph Shannon was a machine operator in a coal mine. He died at age 40 from internal injuries (fractures, contusions & lacerations) he suffered in an automobile accident on Route 52 near Iaeger, McDowell County, WV on March 6, 1961 (per WV Certificate of Death #61-006475 Dist #240 Serial #2408).
