Carl Frantz, age 94, of Capac, Michigan, was ushered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 22, 2014, after an extended illness. Carl had been living with his daughter Karen in Rochester Hills for the last few years. Carl Percy Frantz was born December 26, 1919, in Capac, Michigan. He was a son of Jesse and Etta (Hill) Frantz.

Carl was a lifelong resident of the Capac area. He was a graduate of the Imlay City High School class of 1938.

Carl proudly served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He enlisted in November 1941 (a full month before the war even started). Carl served in the 63rd Infantry Division of the Fifth Army during campaigns in Northern Africa, Italy, France, and Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (with the Silver Service Star for five Campaigns), the Army Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal.

Carl was united in marriage with Virginia Joyce Smith on April 10, 1942, in the Florence - Fayetteville area, South Carolina. Virginia passed away on June 7, 2003.

Carl was a dairy farmer for most all of his life; at one time he and wife Virginia had one of the largest dairy herds in all of St. Clair County.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lapeer.

Visitation for family and friends of Mr. Frantz will be held at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, on Friday, August 29, 2014, where the family will be available for visiting from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2014, at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City. Pastor Richard Griffin will officiate.

Burial will follow in Imlay Township Cemetery, Imlay City. A Special Veteran's Salute will be held at the graveside service.
