HOBERTY, Richard A. "Rick"
63, of South Vienna, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, August 19, 2014. He was born in Springfield on August 28, 1950, the son of the late Walter Franklin and Bessie Virginia (Puney) Hoberty. Rick retired from Nissin and previously worked at Everoll Specialties ford over 40 years. He volunteered as a 4-H advisor for many years, mentoring young people and helphing them grown into adults. He adopted a family nearly every year and played Santa to them. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary AL. (Plantz) Hoberty; three children, Richard Thomas (Kim) Hobery of South Charleston, Vickie Ann Williams of Springfield, and Lori Lynn (Marvin) Fielding of South Vienna; his twin brother, Ronnie (Carolyn) Hoberty of Springfield; a sister, Joyce (Bill) Herier of Springfield; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Matt, Sabrina, Justin, Joshua, Bethany, Tylar, Heath, Madison, Sydney and Liyndsay; and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, George (Dottie) Plantz, Ted (Alice) Plantz, Jude Plantz, and Douglas (Denise) Plantz; sister-in-law, Norma Hoberty; many nieces and nephews; and his extended family of "Adopted kids". He was preceded in death by tow brothers, Jerry Lee and Bob Hobery. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-6 pm Sunday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. Rick's funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Scott Griswold officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Asbury Cemetery.
