Bell, FL - Mr. Frank L. Padilla, Sr., 90, of Bell, Florida passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2014.
Mr. Padilla was born in Boca Grande, Florida on April 10, 1924. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He graduated from Baptist Bible Institute and became a missionary to Louisiana, starting missions, and then pastored churches in Florida, Louisiana and Alabama. He moved to the tri-county area in 1972 and was currently a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Bell, Florida. He taught Sunday school and was involved in RA's and missions. Mr. Padilla loved woodworking and making things by hand, especially wooden boats and shell art.
He is survived by son, Frank (Mary Jo) Padilla, Jr. of Bell, daughters, Penny Miller and Melody (Dwayne "Top") Rollison, both of Cross City; brothers, William (Elaine) Padilla of Chiefland, FL and Jack (Fran) Padilla of Grandbury, TX; sisters, Marjorie Shankle of Cross City and Rosa Lee Peiffer of Lake City, FL; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years who passed away only 6 days earlier, Helen Pauline Padilla, parents, Walter Padilla and Mellie Young; daughter, Candy Dyson; brothers, Buddy Padilla, Bobby Padilla, and Ray Padilla and sister, Doris Seals.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 24, 2014 at 5:00pm at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Corbin officiating. He will be interred at Sonshine Memorial Gardens in Bell.
