Visitation 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, 3655 Logan Avenue, Waterloo, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
Burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Betty E. Happel, 82, of Waverly, formerly of the Waterloo and Dunkerton areas, died Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at The Meadows Assisted Living in Shell Rock.
She was born April 4, 1932 near Aplington, the daughter of Peter and Minnie Buseman Eilers. She married Vernon C. Happel August 16, 1963 at Trinity Reformed Church in Allison. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2014.
Mrs. Happel graduated from Allison High School in 1951. She worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 10 years in Waverly and Cedar Rapids. Betty and her husband farmed the Happel family farm for 45 years. She was a long time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church Bennington Township, where she was the custodian for nine years. Betty also loved gardening, traveling, and bowling.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Sherry L. Happel of Lansing, Kansas, and Lori (Al) Happel – Jarratt of Cannon Falls, Minnesota; and one brother, Nathan (Sharon) Eilers of Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
