A memorial service for Lester K Long of Ukiah, will be Wednesday at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A private cremation will take place. He was 81.
Long died Saturday, August 31, 1996 of natural causes.
Born June 9, 1915 in Covelo, Long was a cattle rancher for many years in Covelo and operated heavy equipment. He spent time in the Alaska frontier prior to serving in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Europe. He was a past trustee for the Round Valley School District. He retired to Ukiah in 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Long of Ukiah; daughter, Charlene Myers of Sacramento; his sisters, Mercile Smith of Sacramento, Aloha Page of Covelo, and Gloria Czarny of Cleveland, Ohio; his brother, Stanford Long of Elk Creek, and three grandchildren.
