Funeral services for Mr. Allen Franklin Thames, 88, of Darlington who passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011 will be held Sunday, February 27, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Grove Hill Cemetery, directed by Kistler Hardee Funeral Home.

Mr. Thames was the son of the late Frank and Ida Dixon Thames. He served his Country in the United States Navy and the United States Air Force. Mr. Thames was a longtime member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church and a member of the St. David's Masonic Lodge # 72.

Surviving are his children, Tamy Norris and her husband, Jack of York, SC; Pat Lane and her husband, Steve of Huntsville, Alabama; Bill Thames of Florence; and Rick Thames and his wife, Debbie of Darlington; his grandchildren, Scott Register and his wife, Chastity of Dayton, Ohio; Trevor Lane and his wife, Bryony of Birmingham, Alabama; Blake Lane and his fianc', Natalie Byrd of Huntsville, Alabama ; Samantha Jones of Florence; Tony Thames of Darlington; Ricky Thames and his wife, Kelly of Darlington; and Kit Thames and his wife, Randee of Darlington; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and his sister, Gertrude Miller of Lexington, Kentucky.

Mr. Thames was preceded in death by his wife, June Edgar Thames; and a sister, Geraldine Smith.

The family would like to say thank you to the nurses and staff of Oakhaven Nursing Home and the McLeod Hospice House for the wonderful care given to their father during his illness.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Kistler Hardee Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Debbie Thames, 115 Dixie Drive, Darlington.
