Florence Eloise Gates, 96, of Parkersburg, WV passed away August 19, 2014 at Eagle Pointe.
She was born March 18, 1918, the daughter of the late Artie Brookover.
Eloise briefly worked at American Viscose before marrying Ralph Gates on November 26, 1936. They were married 54 years at the time of Ralph's passing in 1991. Eloise enjoyed sitting on her front porch watching the birds and squirrels that came to her feeders, going for drives in the country, a hot cup of coffee, and her cat, Dumpy.
Eloise is survived by two sons; Ray Gates and wife Sheila, Darrell Gates and wife JoAnn, one daughter Linda Ball and husband Gordon, who was like a son to her, all from Parkersburg. One brother, Bill Brookover of Vienna, and a sister, Ilene Hunt of Parkersburg. She had 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 9 great, great grandchildren with two more due later this year.
In addition to her husband Ralph, she was preceded in death by one daughter Jeanie Jones and a son-in-law Bill Jones, three brothers; Milford Chichester, Bob Brookover and Jim Brookover and one infant great, great grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna with Rev. Sandy Runion officiating. Graveside service will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Williamstown, WV.
