Kathleen Belle Higgins died peacefully at home surrounded by her sons and one of her best friends on Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014. Service: Arrangements for a celebration of her life are pending. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, she has asked for contributions to be made in her name to the Arlington Texas Animal Shelter, the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra or KERA - North Texas. Kathy was born in New Orleans, La., and grew up in Baton Rouge, La. Kathy lived a life most women could not imagine in the early 1950s. She traveled while in college to Mexico, El Salvador and Guatemala, and spent a summer in New York City attending Columbia. She moved to Arlington with her former husband and children in the 1960s. After raising her children, she spent the majority of her adulthood as a corporate/major account executive with Xerox Corp. supporting the Dallas-Fort Worth region. She retired at the end of 2005. She had many friends from many countries and all walks of life. She loved theater, movies, symphonies, bridge and, most of all, traveling. She traveled extensively around the world, starting at a young age, making wonderful friends along the way, from North, Central and South America, across to Africa and the European continent. She loved traveling in France (visiting her friends), England, Scotland, and Ireland. She loved playing bridge and her circle of bridge friends. Kathy was an accomplished woman with a vivacious gusto for life. Her passing leaves a large hole in many friends' hearts, who loved her dearly, along with many "Kathyisms" that will keep us smiling. Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence E Higgins; mother, Carolyn Belle Cresap Higgins; and grandson, Michael Carrington. Survivors: Sons, Christopher Arangio and wife, Hollie, Peter Arangio and wife, Cecelia; and daughter, Elizabeth Carrington and husband, Dean. The joys of her life were her grandchildren, Daniel, Zoe, Landon and Ryder.
