SMITHS GROVE, Ky. — Former Anderson resident Ricky E. “Fred” Dietz, 64, Smiths Grove, Ky., died Nov. 13, 2008, at his residence.
He was born July 25, 1944, in Anderson, Ind., the son of Melvin and Mildred (Hall) Dietz. He was lead lineman for General Motors for 31 years in Anderson, Muncie, Kokomo, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Bowling Green, Ky.
He was a 1965 graduate of Anderson High School and was a member of United Auto Workers Local 662.
Survivors include his wife, Iantha J. Dietz of Smiths Grove, Ky.; daughter, Cathy Dietz of Anderson; three daughters by marriage, Jessica (husband, Gene) Wilcox of Tecumseh, Okla., Deborah (husband, Andrew) Ghiglieri of Saint Cloud, Fla., and Angela (husband, Paul) Lee of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 11 grandchildren, Roy Doss, CJ and Steven Wilcox, Brooklynn (husband, Nick) Ghiglieri-Loften, Juliah, Christopher, Jacob and Sarah Ghiglieri, Brandon and Zachary and Amber Lee; brother, Richard L. Dietz of Anderson; three sisters, Brenda (husband, David) Hiday of Anderson, Norma (husband, Rick) Stanley of Anderson, Ind., and Judy Waldron of Anderson, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving is very special friend, Rosalyn Lewis of Shirley, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred Dietz and Melvin Dietz; son, Freddie Dietz; sister, Sharon Andrew; grandchildren, Daniel and Danielle Cruise; and a sister-in-law, Janis Dietz.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by J.C. Kirby and Son Funeral Chapels, Bowling Green, Ky.
