Mrs. Opal Reed Jackson, 84, of Holly Hill, widow of Alver "Pete" Jackson, died Tuesday at her home.

Mrs. Jackson was born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late G. E. Reed, Sr., and Inez Chapman Reed.

She was a retired supervisor at the former Skyline, LTD, and an active member of Target UMC. She loved her family, and her church family was special to her. She enjoyed traveling, reading, baseball, and talking to people.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Jim) Taylor of Chapin; a son, David (Emily) Jackson of Mt. Pleasant; sisters, Margaret Griffin of Mountain Rest, and Thelma Garrick of Orangeburg; brothers, Billy (Ethel) Reed of Orangeburg, Emory (Wendy) Reed and Mac (Trudie) Reed, both of Holly Hill, and Don (Pat) Reed of Columbia; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Target UMC, PO Box 1303, Holly Hill, SC 29059 or Hospice Care of South Carolina, 929 Chestnut St., Orangeburg, SC 29115. Avinger Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Target United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Stiltz and Rev. Wayne Mobley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the church social hall.
