Mrs. Elder died Thursday, Nov. 16, at Randolph Medical Center in Roanoke.
A lifelong resident of the Randolph County area, she was born in Randolph County on Jan. 6, 1914, daughter of Jim H. and Exah Hughes Carson. She was employed as a secretary at Southern Union College and was a member and served as organist at New Hope Christian Church. She was preceded in death by husbands Marcus Winston Burdette and L. J. Elder.
Survivors include a son, Larry Burdette of Wadley; two stepsons, Tommy Elder of Dallas, Texas, and Jim Elder of Gastonia, N.C.; three brothers, James E. Carson of Wadley, Clarence Carson of Alexander City and Kerwin Carson of Marbury; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Marcus Burdette, Daniel Carson, Michael Meeks, Lee Brown, Ronnie
Booth and Dennis Meeks.
Arrangements were by Quattlebaum Funeral Home, Roanoke.
