On 21 December 1902 he married Bessie Modine Greer in Collin County. From Collin County, the couple with two small children moved to a farm at Plainview.
The cold weather was no good for Mr. Borchardt's arthritic condition, so the family, now four children, moved to a farm in Young County. After living there for several years, the family moved to Foard County in 1915 with seven children.
As they reached the Middle of Wichita River (no bridge), Mr. Borchardt decided that would be a good place to stop and wash his Maxwell car. It did not take long for it to sink to the hub in the sand. It must have been a sight to see mother, father, and seven children stuck in the sand.
Mr. Borchardt has purchased the farm six miles southwest of Crowell in the Beaver community, so it was to this farm that the family movd. Mr. Borchardt was school trustee as long as there was a school at Beaver. He served on the school board after the consolidation with Crowell.
Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Borchardt. They are
Virgie Morgan
Dr. Alvin Borchardt
Henry
Floyd (Doc)
Bettie Steward
Georgia Hord
John,
Faye Bell,
Jean Campbell
Fred, all of Crowell.
The couple had 24 grandchildren.
At the time of his death, Mr. and Mrs. Borchardt had retired from their farm and were living in Crowell. Their son, Henry, owns the farm on which the family settled in 1915.
