William Purcell was in the Civil War. He was born in Indiana. He married Amanda Johnson whom was also from Indiana. They moved their family to Muscatine, Muscatine, Iowa. He enlisted in the Civil War and was the leader of a troop. I will attempt to look at his Civil War writings and paperwork again to get the exact information. He moved his family after the Civil War to San Francisco, California. His daughter, Laura is my 3x Great Grandmother, making William and Amanda my 4x Great Grandparents. I'm currently in the process of trying to find out where William and Amanda are buried. If anyone sees this and happens to know, please, feel free to email me at [email protected]. I have found his death record in the Daily Alta newspaper, and will be posting it on this memorial page. I also have the 1860 and 1870 census records showing William and his family and will attempt to post that information as well. Thanks for your patience!
