John Junior Barnes, 90, Bethany, MO (formerly of Hatfield) passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at a Bethany, MO nursing home.
John was born, December 4, 1923 in Bethany, MO the son of Lemon Robert and Willa Jean (Stanton) Barnes.
On February 8, 1946, he married Roberta Fletchall in Martinsville, MO. She survives of the home.
John was a postmaster for the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the Eagleville First Christian Church; Gideons, Bethany Camp; NARFE – Bethany Chapter and the Eagleville American Legion Post #56.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Gary Lee Barnes; brothers, Robert and Forest Barnes and sisters, Janet Woods and Loretta Youngs.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Roberta, are daughters, Patty (Gary) Rinehart, Eagleville, MO and Sharon (Rod) Shain, Maryville, MO; grandchildren, Brad (Beth) Shain, Jeremy (Sherri) Rinehart, Angie (Kyle) Breshears, Traci (Kevin) Wilmes; great grandchildren, Samantha, Randy and Carly Rinehart, Lola and Noah Breshears, Hunter, Talon and Zander Shain, Chloe, Olivia and Averie Wilmes; sister, Mary Hodge, Bethany, MO and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 21 at Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, MO. Burial with military rites in the Kidwell Cemetery, Martinsville, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where friends may call after 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideons and/or Eagleville First Christian Church in care of Roberson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 46, Bethany, MO 64424.
