The only child of Glenn Coker and Lydia Jones. He grew up in George West and Kerrville. Married Mary Kathlyn Wenkhous in Houston. He was a carpenter. He built houses, worked on several buildings in downtown Houston and several ships in the Houston ship channel. Lew and Kay had twin sons, Raymond and Ronald. He and his parents died in a terrible car accident in El Campo, Texas, when he was driving them from Houston back to George West after a visit. His parents are buried in George West. He is buried in a plot with his wife and her family.
