LIVERMORE - Joffre (Joff) Girardin, 62, died Thursday at the Maine Medical Center, Portland.
He was born May 28, 1916, the son of Pierre and Lea Duguay, and was educated in the Jay schools. Mr. Girardin married Eleanor Rennie (sic: Rainey) of Wilton July 8, 1922 (sic: 1942) at Hattiesburg, Miss. For most of his life he was employed at the International Paper Co. as a turbine operator.
A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the American Legion, George Bunten Post; the AMVETS, Lane Dube Post; and the VFW, Frank L. Mitchell Post, of which he was a past commander. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church and a member of the Jay-Livermore Falls Hunting Club.
Surviving are his widow, of Livermore; three daughters, Mrs. Jennifer Smith of Monmouth. Mrs. Carol Frey of Livermore and Mrs. Stephanie Samson of Livermore; three brothers, Gerard and Norman of Livermore Falls and Roland of Boston; three sisters, Mrs. Lola Clark of Boston, Mrs. Margaret Jean of Lewiston and Mrs. Rita Pelletier of Thompson; and eight grandchildren.
