Mrs. Edith W. Powell, widow of Jacob Carter Powell, died at 2:15 p.m. yesterday at the Sate Hospital. She was admitted to the institution November 16. Born in Delano, Mrs. Powell was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Wilde. She resided the greater part of her life in Hazleton and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Golden Rule Bible Class of the Church School, and the YWCA.
Her husband died in 1947, and her sister, Mrs. Kathryn Montelius, with whom she lived following the death of her husband, died in April 1950. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Roland E. Edmunds, and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be held privately from the residence, 138 North Church street, at 11 a.m., Saturday, with services in charge of the Rev. Frederic B. Crane, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be made in the Vine street cemetery. Friends may call at the residence Friday afternoon and evening.
