The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 17, at Friendship United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Doug Pryor officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, August 16, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home on Happy Hill Road.
Mrs. Shoaf was born July 14, 1921, in Davie County, to George E. Barnhardt and Dellie Hendrix Barnhardt. She was a member of VFW Post 3074 Ladies Auxiliary and retired from Frazier Shops in Lexington. At her church she was a member of the Ladies Bible Class. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry V. Shoaf, who died January 5, 1989; one sister, Levy Barnhardt; and seven brothers, Olin, Dermont, Elward, Charlie, Herman, Bill and Eudell Barnhardt of Davie County; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Hope Prince.
Surviving are a daughter, Henrietta Shoaf Prince and her husband Jimmy; son, Larry D. Shoaf and wife Sharon; two grandsons, Michael Shoaf and wife Karyn of Crandall, Texas and David Prince and wife Kimberly of Lawrenceville, GA.; a granddaughter, Jamie Beth Bailey and husband Brad of Cornelius; three great-grandsons, Luke Shoaf of Crandall, Texas, Jedidiah Bailey of Cornelius, NC and Matthew Prince of Lawrenceville, GA.; two great-granddaughters, Marleigh Anna Shoaf of Crandall, Texas and Journey Bailey of Cornelius, NC; a sister, Virginia Dare Foster of Advance; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Hartman Barnhardt and Ann Wilson Barnhardt, both of Davie County; and several nieces and nephews.
