MABEL MCDOWELL
Mabel McDowell, 95, of Cedar Falls Western Home, formerly of Grinnell, died Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Western Home.
Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Western Home Chapel, with the Rev. Russ L. Burnett officiating. Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery, Grinnell.
The daughter of Clem and Edna Beeler, she was born Feb. 14, 1895, in Grinnell. She attended school here and graduated from Grinnell High School.
She was married to Alfred R. McDowell in Grinnell Jan. 15, 1915, and the couple farmed for many years until moving to Cedar Falls in 1970. After her husband's death in 1972, Mrs. McDowell moved to the Cedar Falls Western Home.
She was active in the local Women's Chorus and the Farm Bureau.
Surviving are one daughter, Margaret Barron of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two children, Dorothy and Wilbur, both in infancy; one grandson three sisters, Addie Peters, Ruth Garwood and Mayme Beason.
