GORDON CYRIL LAHEY SR.


BURLINGTON - Mr. Gordon Cyril Lahey Sr., 70, of 1930 W. Lake Dr. died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 1995 at Duke Medical Center in Durham.

Born in Columbia, S.C. to the late Gordon C. Lahey and the late Blanche Gibson Lahey, he was a director at AT & T, and a member of Front Street United Methodist Church. In 1956 he was on loan to Duke University as a visiting instructor in electrical engineering. In 1966, Governor Moore elected him as the first chairman of the Governor's advisory board to the State Science & Technology Research Center in Research Triangle Park. He was selected to participate in the American Studies for Executives at Williams College in Williamston, Mass. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi. He was also instrumental in developing the Homeless Shelter on Fisher St. in Burlington.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Front Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Jack Hunter and Dr. Jack Fogleman officiating and burial in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. tonight at Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington.

Memorials may be made to Allied Churches of Alamance County, 206 N. Fisher St., Burlington, N.C. 27217.
