Horace leaves behind his three children, Mary Beth and husband Mark Stevenson of Greenwich, Conn., Robert Dryden and wife Martha of Dallas, Texas and Mack Dryden and wife Debbie of The Woodlands, Texas. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Horace was a man of great strength, patience, and generosity. When his wife became ill more than ten years ago, he took care of her on a full time basis. He was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. Horace joined the service after high school and became a Navy pilot during WWII. After the war, he graduated from Auburn University with an Architecture degree and eventually settled in Dallas, Texas. He was an Architect in Dallas for 45 years and designed numerous homes, commercial and industrial facilities for which he won numerous national awards. He was also the Consulting Architect for Southern Methodist University and designed buildings for Baylor University as well. Additionally, he served as the Secretary Treasurer for the National AIA, was President of the Park Cities Rotary Club, a Board Member at Northwood Country Club, a member of Who's Who in the South and Southwest and served Mayor Erik Jonsson in his "Goals for Dallas."
Horace loved the Lord and gave so much of his time to the Church of the Incarnation that he was honored by having a room in the library named for him. Over his years there, he served as Senior Warden, an Usher and President of the Kitchen Cabinet Sunday School class. Every day he read aloud his favorite Bible verse, as it was a constant reminder of his eventual reunion in Heaven with the Lord and his Betsy Jane. John 14 1-2: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father's house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?"
