She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Louise McClure; son, Steven Lane McClure; parents, Dewey and Lizzie Hammontree; two brothers, Luther and Leonard "Bill" Hammontree; and sister, Anna Jumper.
Catherine was a member of Salem Baptist Church where she served as financial secretary of many years.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty one years, Donald McClure of the residence; two adopted daughters and their husbands, Angelique and Adam Tatum of Dalton and Donna and Michael Ogles of Adairsville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jemyrr and Gordon Ratcliff of Villanow and Norma and Ronald Stinson of Albany; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas and Mary Hammontree of Dalton, Weldon and Margie Hammontree of Mobile; Betty Hammontree of Dalton and brother-in-law, Olin Jumper of Dalton; nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Catherine McClure will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Walter Hare, Rev. Bill Walker, Rev. Randy Parker and Rev. Darey Kittle officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 pm until the service hour at 2:00 pm.
Burial will be in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Salem Baptist Church Building Fun
