Larry Lee Allen, 71, of North Platte, passed away August 15, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was born February 5, 1943 to Melvin and Lucille (Dethlefsen) Allen at Chamberlain, S.D. Larry graduated from Sunol High School in 1961. He was united in marriage to Jane Ann Fisher on Dec. 14, 1974 at Lake Tahoe, NV. Larry was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer on the 3rd District, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Larry enjoyed woodworking, cooking, chasing and playing with his grandchildren and great nieces. He is survived by his wife, Jane Ann, of North Platte; his son, Phil (Jessica) Allen of Lincoln; a brother, Roger Mashek of Arkansas; a sister, Sandy Reichman of Lodgepole, NE; grandchildren, Baleigh and Quincy; mother-in-law, Evelyn Fisher of Fremont, CA; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Connie Allen; and a brother, Bob Mashek. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery with military honors. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
