CHARLES LEWIS JOHNSON, 78, of Arcadia, died Tuesday, March 15,1983, at his home. A son of Lewis and Jennie Bartlebaugh Johnson, he was born Nov. 10, 1904, in Grampian. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Senior Citizens of Northeast Indiana County at Gipsy and the Shryock Grange, Bowdertown. He had served in the U.S. Army 1st Field Artillery Brigade from 1924- 1927. He had been employed with Youngstown Sheet and Tube in Youngstown, Ohio, for 38 years until his retirement in 1966. Surviving are two sons: Theodore, Greensburg; Gilbert, Arcadia; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren: three sisters: Mrs. Loraine Poe, Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Jessie Lewis Buehler, Monroe, Wis.; Mrs. Flora Beight, Youngstown, Ohio; two brothers: Ray, Michigan; Ellis, Emporium. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Kerr Johnson May 3, 1982; a son Gerald, killed in the Korea War; two brothers: Elah and Neal, and a sister, Pearl Buehler.
