Brigadier General Daniel Miller, who planted the willow and commanded a brigade in the last war with England, and was known among his neighbors as "Deacon Miller," being associated with those venerable deacons, Ives, Stone and Hitchcock of the old Congregational church of Homer, died in 1845; Sarah, his wife, in 1824: Harriet Hale, his second wife, in 1827
