Frank W. Leffert, Sr., 72, of 603 Lincoln Ave, died Sunday at his home after a long illness. For many years Mr. Leffert was meat manager at Loblaws supermarket, retiring in 1963. He was born in Rome Oct. 10, 1898, son of Jacob and Edith Mansfield Leffert, and attended Rome schools. On Jan. 25, 1921, in Trinity United Church of Christ, he married the former Mathilda Pfund. Mr. Leffert served with the Navy in World War I and was a charter member of the Rome Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the first bugle band of the post. He was also a member of the Fort Stanwix Barracks, World War I Veterans, the Golden Age Senior Citizen Club, Trinity United Church of Christ and a former member of the Henry P. Smith Post American Legion. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Barbara) Joanis, Rome, a son Frank W. Leffert Jr., Olathe, Kan., and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday at the Strong Funeral Home with interment in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.
