KNIGHTSTOWN- Barbara Ann Richardson, 72, passed away on Thursday morning August 14, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

A daughter of the late Thaddeus and Maggie Irene (Sherwood) Richardson, Barbara was born in New Castle, Indiana on July 23, 1942.

Barbara was raised south of Lewisville in Rush County and graduated from Mays High School with the class of 1960. She was an active member of the New Hope Church in Lewisville and loved all children. She enjoyed cooking and will always be remembered for her baked goods and homemade candy at Christmas time. Barbara’s love of children lead her to become a houseparent at the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Home in Knightsown for over 30 years. She had a positive influence on many young lives.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Laura Borders of Carmel and Pamela DeGraw of Indianapolis; 5 grandchildren, Levi Borders, Justin Caudill, Danielle, Madison and Payton; 3 great grandchildren, Bobbi Lilian Borders, Samson and Alyssa Caudill; 1 sister, Phyllis Solomon of Charlottesville; 1 nephew Thad Richardason Jr. of Spiceland; 5 nephews, Chris Doty, William, Tomothy, Mark and Travis Richardson; 1 niece Edia Gray; several great and great great nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her brother Howard Richardson on June 7, 2005.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday August 18, 2014 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, 115 West U.S. Hwy. 40/ Lewisville, IN 47352.

Burial will follow at the Zion Cemetery in Raleigh.

Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday August 17 at the funeral home.
