Buck Milton Burns, 81, of Belton, Texas, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 14, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 21, 2014, at the Belton Church of Christ with Minister Bob Shepard officiating. Burial will follow in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Dossman Funeral Home Chapel.

Buck was born in the now vanished town of Hale Center, Texas, to the late Edward Patrick Burns and Ines Myrtle Boulier Burns. Buck served in the U.S. Navy as a Radioman 2nd Class on the USS Essex during the Korean War. After serving his country, Buck returned to Texas to build his life as a farmer and rancher in Plainview, TX. This is where he met and married Margurea Bay Shepard.

They moved to Belton, Texas, where Buck began his career in real estate as an Agent/Broker. Buck, a member of The Belton Church of Christ since 1976, retired in Belton, TX and continued to be a member of the church and community he loved.

Buck was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Margurea Bay Shepard Burns; sisters, Patsy Jean Burns and Jerry Dean Schenk; brothers: Clarence "Alex" Burns, William "Bill" N. Burns, and Edward P. "Junior" Burns; daughter, Donna Beth Shepard Sanford; and a grandson, Micah Theron Shepard.

Buck is survived by sons, Bob Shepard and his wife, Linda, of Canyon, Texas, Joel Shepard and his wife, Phyllis, of Telephone, Texas, Milton Burns and his wife, Patty, of Belton, Texas, Michael Burns and his wife, Jennipher, of Yukon, OK, and Eddie Burns and his wife, Trish, of Yukon, OK; daughters: Laurel Shepard, of Mesquite, Texas, Mary Burns Stiles, of Lake Elsinore, CA, Kathy Shepard Nichols and her husband, Rob, of New Braunsfels, Texas, and Bobby Burns Calvin and her husband, Jeff, of Temecula, CA; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Lee Ann Mims, of Buffalo, Texas; other relatives and many friends.
