Wayland Carroll Duckett Sr., 76, of Katy, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Memorial services and burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 16, in Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, with Pastor Thomas Campbell officiating.

Wayland was born in Waco, Texas, to Johnny A. and Lucy C. Duckett. He attended schools at Waco I.S.D., LaVega I.S.D., and McLennan Community College. Wayland was a long-time member of the Calvary Baptist Church of Bellmead before moving to the Houston area. He worked as a draftsman and engineer in the Houston area for many years. Wayland was a great artist and loved hunting, fishing, boating, camping, old western movies, and NASCAR.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny A. Duckett; mother, Lucy C. Miller; and step-father, Rufus Earl Miller.

Survivors include his daughters, Charlotte Burns and her husband, Everett, of League City, and Lee Ann Duckett, of Houston; son, Wayland Duckett, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Spring; grandchildren: James Burns, of Houston, Brandon Duckett, of Conroe, and Danielle Duckett, of Conroe; brothers, Jack Duckett and his wife, Beverly, of Hewitt, and William Miller and his wife, Judy, of Little Elm; and his beloved little dog, Zeus, who was his constant companion.
