Alberta Mabel Gish Noel, 93 passed away Thursday, August 14th. She was born June 13, 1921 in rural Dickinson County to Benjamin Engle and Grace Ida (Guest) Gish. Her parents later moved to Abilene. Growing up in the area, she attended local schools and graduated from Abilene High School with the class of 1939. She was married to Loren LeRoy Noel, son of Abram and Edith (Frey) Noel on March 26, 1941. They lived together on their farm north of Abilene for 73 years.

Alberta was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Connie Rae, granddaughter Julie Bissey, her parents, one sister, Dorothy Gish Holdsworth, three brothers, Earl, Irvin and Dean Gish.

She is survived by her children, Muriel (Ray) Woods of Manhattan, Kent Noel of Kenya, Rhonda (Mark) Thornburrow of Manhattan and Gregg (Sherri) Noel of Abilene. Grandchildren include Jodie (Chad ) Bartelson, Wellington, Jacie Noel, Westminster, CO, Tara Noel, Manhattan, Mitchell Thornburrow, Manhattan, and Jeff Bissey of Florida. Her three great grandchildren include Leah and Brett Bissey and Cameron Bartelson.

Alberta was a member of the Talmage United Methodist Church. She served the church in many capacities and especially enjoyed the many years she taught sunday school. She also enjoyed visiting her friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite hobbies were flower gardening, reading and writing letters.

The funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 18 at the Talmage United Methodist Church with Pastor Ken Stout officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 17th at the Danner Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorial contributions could be made to The Talmage United Methodist Church or the Abilene Public Library in care of the Danner Funeral Home.
