LOUISE BLAIR, 89 of Texas City, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at her residence in Texas City surrounded by her family. She was a longtime resident of Texas City for 62 years.
Mrs. Blair was born on January 4, 1925 in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of Robert Lee Madison and Verna Roberta Marr Madison. This Southern Lady and Beauty Queen married her Army Air Corp Pilot and Sweetheart in Elkton, Maryland on May 14, 1942. Unto this union four children were born Charles W. Blair III (Linda) of Crockett, Verna Blair Leonhardt (Gene) of Huntsville, Kathy Blair Nelson (Kenny) of Texas City and Judy Blair Loney (Chuck) of Texas City; her grandchildren Sean Leonhardt (Amy), Brian Loney (Lisa) and Ashley Loney; her great-grandchildren Parker and Addyson Loney, sister Ethel Smith, Doris La Starza, sister and brother-in-law Mary Lou and Pete Rygaard and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, sister, Verna Russell and son-in-law Kenny.
Louise was a member of St. John’s Methodist Church of Texas City.
Mom was a steed fast support for her husband during his military service, college and career. She was always involved in her children’s lives serving as room mother, brownie leader, chauffeur, nurse, cook, and all things that make her an inspiration to her children and their friends, who were always welcome in her home.
She enjoyed traveling with her family, reading, sewing, gardening and cooking, especially the world’s best fried chicken.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 10:00am – 11:00am at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Rev. Dr. Donna Falk officiating. Burial will be at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Sean Leonhardt, Brian Loney, Ashley Loney, Peter Wayne Rygaard, Dennis Rygaard, and Ricky Rygaard.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice Care Team or the American Cancer Society.
