Rosa graduated from Crater High School. She was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, played baseball, as well as working with siblings at local orchards and the vegetable fields. She graduated from the Medford Beauty School while also working as a telephone operator. She was a proficient league bowler. Rosa was a woman known for her faith, words of encouragement and prayer.

[Rosa and Floyd Young] were married in Reno, Nevada February 8, 1932. Their family grew to have 6 children. Valerie, James, Vicki, Teri, Tammy, and Christina.
