Graveside services for Ara "Tootsie" Faulkenberry, 87, of Abernathy, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, in the Abernathy Cemetery, with Rev. Jerry Don Cheshire, officiating. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home Wednesday morning, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.

Mrs. Faulkenberry died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, in Lubbock.

She was born on April 20, 1920 and married John Cecil Faulkenberry March 15, 1944 in Visalia, Calif. He preceded her in death May 28, 2004. She was raised in Abernathy and they moved their family to Denver City in 1952, and to Seagraves, in 1953 where they lived until returning to Abernathy in 1984. She was very involved in the PTA when her children were younger. She was a member of the Abernathy First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Johny "Bo" Faulkenberry and his wife, June, of Flint; a daughter, Cynie Hopkins and her husband, Leland, of Chilicothe; five grandchildren, Ryan and Clay Faulkenberry, D'Aun Pakulak, Leah Bradley and Christy Tabor, 12 great-grandchildren;, and a sister, Burnie Hardin of Abernathy
