Gladys C. Menges, age 94, a resident of North Ridge Medical & Rehabilitation Center, Manitowoc, formerly of 3407 County Highway VV, two Rivers, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 14, 2005, at the Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers .
Private family services will be held at 11 .m. Friday (TODAY), Sept. 16, 2005, at the Knollwood Mausoleum Chapel, Highway 310, Manitowoc The Rev. Steven G. Kline will officiate at the service, with burial to follow in Knollwood Memorial Gardens.
Gladys was born March 29, 1911, in Manitowoc, a daughter of the late Henry and Henrietta (Hecht) Stelzer. On Oct. 28, 1933, she married Bernhardt Menges in Two Rivers. He preceded her in death Aug. 22, 1979. Gladys worked as a housekeeper for many years for private homes in the Manitowoc area, and also in Wisconsin Dells. She also was employed at Fisher Hamilton in Two Rivers. She enjoyed gardening, reading, playing sheepshead, and listening to Packer games.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Elaine and Marvin Borchardt of rural Wayside; Judith Menges, Two Rivers; one son Bernard Menges Jr., Two Rivers; four grandchildren: Mark Borchardt; John (Cynthia) Borchardt; Beth (Allan) Schultz; and Sara (Rob) Kvitek; and five great-grandchildren: Benjamin and Abigail Borchardt; and Samuel, Anne, and Emily Schultz. She is further survived by four sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Lila (Richard) Bosley, West Bend, Meta Menges, Gertrude Jebavy, Beverly Menges, and Eugene Peroutka, all of Two Rivers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister: Florence Misic; two brothers; Karl Stelzer and Paul Stelzer; an infant great-grandson: Trace William Kvitek; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
