Macomb, July 20. -- Monday afternoon about 4 o'clock, Mrs. Aaron James of Blandinsville, while driving to her home after a visit with her daughter Mrs. Amby Bagley, was thrown from her buggy when her horse became frightened at a sack filled with hay lying alongside the road, and was almost instantly killed.

The accident occurred about a mile and a half northeast from Blandinsville, and there was only one witness, Willie McGee, a young man, who was immediately behind the rig occupied by Mrs. James, in an empty wagon, when her horse became frightened.

He tried to assist her, but was knocked unconscious, and when he came to, she was lying in the road, dead.

Adeline Clayton was born in Sciota township, and has lived in that part of the county all her life. She was about 48 years of age. She was united in marriage with Aaron E. James about 25 years ago. To this union were born two daughters, Myra at home, and Mrs. Amy Bagley.

Besides her husband and daughters, Mrs. James is survived by one brother, Albert Clayton of Coin, Iowa, and two sisters, Mrs. Alma Evans of Marietta and Mrs. Nettie Veff of Atlanta.

The birthplace stated in the above obituary is incorrect. In 1860 Adaline, born in Ohio, age 7 months, was counted with her parents and older siblings in Pike Township, Perry County, Ohio. In succeeding censuses, 1870 through 1900, Ohio was given as her birthplace. Only in the 1910 census was Illinois stated.
