"Josephine (Baker) Canfield, was born in Hogan township, Dearborn county and was the twelfth child of Thomas and Rachel (Powell) Baker. Wesley and Josphine (Baker) Canfield were the parents of the following children: Anna Eliza, wife of W.C. Prichard, of Sparta; Perry, of Hogan township; Edwin L., of Sparta; and Robert S., also of Sparta... Her death occurred in the spring of 1914."

"It was with much sorrow that the people of our community received the news of the death of Mrs. Josephine Canfield, which occurred early Sunday morning at the home of her brother, James Baker, of Aurora. Mrs. Canfield was called to Aurora some time ago by the serious illness of her brother and on Friday, March 20, was a complication of diseases resulted in stricken with pneumonia, which with her death. The body was immediately brought to the home of her daughter, Mrs. William C. Prichard, where she had made her home for the past three years. The funeral services were conducted in the Presbyterian...."

"The many friends of Mrs. Josephine Canfield were grieved to hear of her death after a brief illness at her brother's home at Aurora."
