H. Wayne Randall passed into the arms of those who loved him and had gone before him on Thursday, July 3, 2014, from congestive heart failure. He was 97.

Wayne was born on Sept. 9, 1916, to Grace Root Randall and Alfred Bernard Randall in Moscow, the second of three sons. He spent his young life on the homestead started by his grandfather, John Randall, in 1896. Wayne's father died when Wayne was just 6 years old. Wayne has always missed him. After 91 years, they are together again. The death of his father started Wayne's life of caring for others. He and his brothers did the best they could to keep their portion of the farm operational. His mother was crippled young with rheumatoid arthritis, and he cared for her until her death in 1952.

In 1936, Wayne and Charlotte Cecelia Heaton were married at Asotin. They had two sons, Gene LeRoy and Alfred Wayne. Wayne and Char farmed wheat and grains in Moscow, had a tree farm in Kamiah, and raised cattle and pigs in Lenore until their retirement to Orofino in 1974. While living in Kamiah, their son, Gene, at age 16, drowned in an eddy on the Clearwater River. Char and Wayne spent their retirement traveling, fishing, camping, and raising grandchildren Al and Travis. In the late '90s, Char was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and he tirelessly cared for her at home for 10 years until her death in 2007. They were married for 71 years. He is now reunited with Char and Gene.

Wayne was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard Randall and Dean Randall.

He is survived by his son, Alfred; and four grandchildren, Vivian(Grant), Blake, Brad, and Al (Marie). He has also left numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. We all feel such pride and love in knowing him. Thank you, Hospice, for your tender care during his last days. Your care and encouragement enabled Wayne to leave this Earth from home to be with his loved ones waiting for him in heaven.

There will be a private family burial in Kamiah on Saturday.
