Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Gerhardt died Thursday, April 10, 2003, in Colorado Springs, Colo. He was born on February 24, 1944, in Plainview, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Colorado and was raised in Abernathy. He had also lived in Lubbock. He was a former member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Abernathy. He is survived by a daughter, Aretha Gerhardt of Lubbock; his mother, Tommie Gerhardt of Lubbock; one sister, Irene Ross of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
