Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, August 4, 2014, in the Dukes-Harley Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Thomas Huggins officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bobby Gressett Sunday School Class. Interment will be held at 3:00 pm in Carolina Baptist Church Cemetery, 2401 Church Road, Green Sea, SC. The family will receive friends at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home on Sunday, August 3, 2014, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
Paul was born May 12, 1934, in Horry County, SC. He was a son of the late Vernie Lester and Lula Gracie Blanton. He served in the Army, during the Korean War, and he worked in and later retired from the textile industry. He was a member of First Baptist Church, St. Matthews, SC.
He is survived by his wife, Madaline Reynolds Blanton, of the home; two daughters, Ila Pearl Blanton of Hartsville, SC, and Suzanne Blanton (Sheldon) Ledwell of St. Matthews, SC; two brothers, Jack (Carolyn) Blanton of Raeford, NC, and Jimmy W. Blanton of Union Springs, NY; two sisters, Evelyn Duvall of Atlanta, GA, and Gracie Anne Cole of Jackson Springs, NC; two grandchildren, Sheldon Marshal (Megan) Ledwell, and Peyton Tyler Ledwell; and a great-gradchild, Marshall Tyler Ledwell. Paul was predeceased by a daughter, Jacqueline Lynn Blanton.
