Son of John Sr. and Catherine (Shrag) Albrecht. The family came from Russia in 1877. John's brothers and sisters included: Anna, Mary, Katie, Fannie, Sarah, Emma, and Rachel. One other sister died during the journey over and was buried at sea. J.B. grew up in Kansas and received his education in rural schools. The family were farmers. J.B. married Anna Albers on February 20, 1906. They had two children: John Jr. and Mildred (Miller). They made their home in Reno County until February 11, 1943, when they moved to Beaver Crossing, Seward County. They bought 200 acres located 1 1/2 miles northwest of Beaver Crossing in L precinct. He farmed, raising diversified crops, feeding a few cattle and hogs and a flock of chickens. In 1949, he and Anna retired to a home they bought in Beaver. He passed away January 26, 1968 at Friend, Nebraska of a blood clot in the lungs.
