Ruth Bigler Beatty, 85, of Washington, died Monday, June 6, 2011, in Presbyterian Senior Care.

She was born June 21, 1925, in Washington, a daughter of Charles Howard and Goldie Durbin Bigler.

Mrs. Beatty was a graduate of Washington High School. For 20 years she worked as an inspector at Superior Valve Company.

Mrs. Beatty enjoyed crocheting, crafts, animals, especially her cat, Angel, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of Church of the Covenant and the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.

Surviving are two sons, Kevin (Crystal) Beatty of Washington and Howard “Butch” (Susan) Beatty of Meadowlands; a daughter, DruAnn (Terry) Thomas of Waynesburg; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Deceased is a grandchild, Cheyanne.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 3 till 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 9th. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Area Humane Society, PO Box 66, Eighty-Four, PA 15330; or to Donnell House, Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
