Mabel Lee Walton was a gentle southern woman born in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. She attended Randolph Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, Virginia where on April 14, 1904 she was initiated as a charter member of Gamma chapter of Sigma Sigma Sigma. She went on to dedicate a lifetime of distinguished service to Sigma Sigma Sigma as the Third National President for 34 continuous years from 1913 until her retirement in 1947. In 1956 Mabel Lee Walton was named President Emerita in honor of her service to Tri Sigma.

On May 2, 2015 Tri Sigmas gathered in Woodstock, Virginia to remember the life of Mabel Lee Walton and to rededicate the Mabel Lee Walton House which for fifty years has served as the heart and home of Sigma Sigma Sigma National Sorority. The historical marker for Mabel Lee Walton can be found at the corner of Locust and Main Streets in Woodstock.
