He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Reynolds Shewmake, mother, Helen Marie Hicks, and son, John Merrill Spires. Garry is survived by his wife, Paula Barganier Shewmake, daughter, Ashley Weston (David), brother, Larry Shewmake, brother, Jared Kilgore (Paula), and granddaughters, Brianna Ware, Gemma Weston, Skylar Spires, and Emily Spires. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 8, 2014 at Leak Memory Chapel from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9, 2014, at 11:00 am at Leak Memory, followed by his burial in Central Baptist Church Cemetery in Wetumpka.
