Jerry M. Anderson, age 69, resident of Devils Lake, ND, formerly of Michigan, ND, died Sunday, February 5, 2006 at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Jerry Marvin Anderson was born June 19, 1936 at Michigan, ND, the son of Axel and Thora (Narum) Anderson. He was raised on the family farm near Mapes, ND. He attended the Williams Township School, and graduated Michigan High School in 1954. Jerry married Rose Shirek on September 24, 1957 at Sarnia Lutheran Church in Whitman, ND. They lived and farmed on the family homestead for many years, until they moved to Devils Lake in 2001. Jerry was a member of Michigan Lutheran Church, where he served on the Church Board. He also served on the Williams Township Board, and was a Nelson County Mutual Insurance adjustor for 10 years. Jerry loved to visit and have coffee with his friends at the Michigan caf é . His interests also included draft horses and antique cars. He fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past year.
He was greatly loved, and will be deeply missed by his wife, Rose Anderson of Devils Lake, ND; 2 daughters, Polly Anderson of Alexandria, VA, and Janet (Rick) Solar of Marion, IA; 2 grandsons, Scott Solar and Tyler Solar; 3 brothers, Ervin (Lydia) Anderson of Lakota, Kenneth (Mary Lou) Anderson of Lakota, and Marlow Anderson of Thompson, ND; and several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Lloyd & Leland; and 4 sisters, Edna, June, Mary & Edith.
Jerry's Funeral Service will be held at Michigan Lutheran Church of Michigan, ND, on Thursday, February 9, 2006 at 10:30 AM. Officiating will be the Reverend Sue Mackey. The organist will be Paula Narum, and the vocalists will be Jason Flom and Sharon Young. Interment will be in the Spring at the Michigan Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Allan Anderson, Bob Anderson, Tom Anderson, Larry Anderson, Kenneth Shirek & Paul Shirek. Visitation will be held at Aaker Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 8, 2006 after 3:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church on Thursday, from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
